Steve and Tammy Perry began offering preschool computer classes at day care centers in Tyler, Texas in 1999. This idea took off and PC Kidz was founded soon after in 2001. PC Kidz provides its franchise owners with four days of initial training at company headquarters plus three days of training at the franchisee's location. Continuing support is provided to franchise owners through internet resources, newsletters, a grand opening, conferences, evaluations, and buying co-ops. Marketing support is offered to franchisees through a co-op advertising program, regional advertising, and ad slicks.

At the time of this writing the initial franchise fee to purchase a PC Kidz franchise was approximately fifteen to forty-five thousand dollars depending on territory. The total investment required to own a PC Kidz franchise was in the approximate range of nineteen to ninety thousand dollars.
