The company was started in 1985 by brothers Ariel and Ron Shlien who hosted science themed birthday parties that featured scientific demonstrations. Franchisees of The Mad Science Group are offered five days of training at company headquarters as well as five days of training at the franchisees location. Marketing support is provided through a co-op ad program and regional advertising.
