Fun Bus was founded in the year 2000 by the mother daughter team of Dawn McGarry and Kari Denton and is based out of Tinton Falls, New Jersey. The Fun Bus concept consists of a dual air conditioned and heated bus that has had all seats removed and the floor and walls of the bus have been padded. Inside the bus are activities designed to support learning and fitness. Fun Bus buses can be equipped with tunnels, barrels, bars, slides, trampolines, parallel bar, balance beam, tumbling mats, basketball hoops, ladders, swings, rope ladders, and other equipment along with age appropriate games and music. The Fun Bus can be used with schools and daycare centers or hired out for birthday parties and the like. The company began offering its business idea and products as a franchise opportunity in 2003.

Franchise owners of a Fun Bus franchise are provided with two days of training at company headquarters with three additional days of training on the road and at bus driving school. Continuing support is provided to franchise owners through internet resources, a toll free phone line, a grand opening ceremony, evaluations, and buying co-ops. Ongoing marketing support is offered to franchises through a co-op advertising program and ad slicks.
