The American Poolplayers Association Home Based Franchise

The American Poolplayers Association (APA), which was first known as the National Pool League, was founded by pro poolplayers Terry Bell and Larry Hubbart. The APA is based out of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri, and today gives over 250,000 members a chance to play pool and to compete in weekly 8-ball and 9-ball tournaments. The APA runs their tournaments through a network of local franchises. Nationally the APA guarantees more than one million dollars in national prize money. This consists of the APA 8-Ball National Team Championships, the APA 8-Ball Classic, the APA 9-Ball National Team Championship, the APA 9-Ball Shootout, and the MiniMania tournaments.  The APA began franchising in 1982.

Franchise owners of an APA franchise are provided with up to six days of training at APA headquarters. Continuing support comes to franchises through newsletters, conferences, internet resurces, evaluations, and a toll free phone line for support. Marketing support of franchise owners comes in the form of company supplied ad slicks.

At the time of this writing the initial franchise fee for an American Poolplayers Association franchise was approximately five thousand dollars. The total investment required to get a franchise up and running is in the approximate neighborhood of twelve to fifteen thousand dollars.
